Launch of co-creation committee in Aarhus (Denmark) and General Assembly - Work Packages 1 & 7

The City of Aarhus welcomed WATERUN consortium in Denkmark last 23rd and 24th of May 2023 for the General Assembly and and the lauch of local co-creation committee with stakeholders.

Aarhus Wand host the General Assemby in their brand new facilities. A big Thanks to them for their hospitality!. During this first day, the focus was on the progress of the technical activities. Each partner had the chance to explain the progress made on every work package and the development of the products during the last months. The speakers also identified the milestones of their developments in the timeline. By the end of the first session, all the partners could have a general overview of the key landmarks of the project life, with the aim of meeting the key stakeholders in each point and get valuable feedback from them. After this fruitful conversation, it was time for the exciting visits to the demo sites in Aarhus. Our colleagues from Aarhus University took us to several locations in the area and kindly described the type of SUDs, catchment area, sewer systems and the sampling methodology to collect representative samples for monitoring pollutants and the performance of the green infrastructures. In Tulip-grunden area, the consortium visited infiltration ditches (dry) which transport and collect stormwater runoff on terrain and wet ponds. Next stop was on the residential area of Risvangen where innovative infiltration beds (dry ponds) are installed in the framework of a large-scale climate adaptation project. This infiltration bed collects stormwater runoff (roof and roads). The novelty of this infrastructure is based on the use of a top layer of gravel, a mid-layer of filter soil and a bottom layer of gravel for drainage.

Finally, time to relax and enjoy having dinner altogether!

The second meeting day hosted by Aarhus University was focused on management aspects of the project as well as the progress of communication and dissemination activities. During the morning, the consortium was instructed also about the data management in the project. The afternoon was dedicated to the launch of the local co-creation committee in a workshop led by SEECON partner in charge of this activities. The objective of this committee is to gather groups of people interested in WATERUN products who give feedback useful during and until the end of the project. Every product was showcased to the stakeholders in a marketplace by members of the consortium. Very interesting and fruitful discussion where the pains and gains were collected. Thanks to the specialists from Aarhus Vand, Syddjurs Kommune, Skanderborg Kommune, Municipality of Aarhus and Vand Center Syd (Odense) and their valuable comments!

Next general assembly will be held in Jordan next autumn. Looking forward to meeting all the partners again in Amman!
