Within Work Package 4 of the WATERUN project, Tilia is responsible for conducting a techno-economic analysis for the deployment of blue-green decentralized infrastructures in a designated area of Santiago de Compostela.
Based on the on the ongoing work, Tilia carried out a cost evaluation focusing on the construction and installation of the Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuD) and Nature Based Solutions (NBS) such as constructed wetlands. The main cost components are as follows: Biofiltration System, Plumbing, and Water Collection Basin. There are also costs for pipework for supply and discharge.
Both case studies, Ptollomeo Street and Lionella area, show almost the same results in terms of (Figure 2) the following specific parameters:
- m² plant surface area per ha connected area: 0,0167 -0,0176 m²/ha
- specific construction costs: 355 – 495 €/m² plant area
Furthermore, the study areas were defined in which the technical feasibility and economic viability analyses are to be carried out. The two areas cover 118 and 202 hectares respectively (sealed and unsealed).
These are Figure 1.
